![]() ![]() Though highly successful, Gemini 10, like all Gemini missions, had its share of problems. Crew and spacecraft were recovered by the USS Guadalcanal. The spacecraft landed at 21:07:05 UTC in the Atlantic Ocean, only 3 nm off target. Finally, Collins reentered the Gemini 10 and with some effort was able to secure his hatch.Īfter 43 orbits, Gemini 10 reentered the Earth’s atmosphere on Thursday, 21 July 1966. This effort was short-lived as he quickly ran out of the gaseous propellant. Collins also used a hand-held maneuvering unit powered by nitrogen gas. He had difficulty trying to hold on to the vehicle, but was able to retrieve a micrometeorite collector for analysis back on Earth. This event marked the first time in spaceflight history that a spacecraft successfully rendezvoused with two separate vehicles on the same mission.Īt 23:01:00 UTC on 20 July, Collins started a 39-minute EVA in which he floated over to examine the Gemini 8 ATV. These Agena-aided maneuvers placed Gemini 10 in a position to later use its own orbital maneuver system to complete a rendezvous with the Gemini 8 Agena Target Vehicle at an orbital altitude of 204 nm. While docked with the Agena, Collins conducted a 49-minute stand up EVA starting at 21:44:00 UTC on 19 July.Īfter several more burns of the Agena rocket motor, the astronauts undocked from the ATV at 19:00:00 UTC on Wednesday, 20 July 1966. Dosimeter measurements revealed that radiation levels at apogee did not constitute a significant health issue for the astronauts. This trajectory exposed the astronauts to flight through portions of the Earth’s radiation belts. Using the Agena’s restartable rocket motor, the docked Gemini-Agena combination was boosted into a 412 nm x 159 nm elliptical orbit. Gemini 10 successfully rendezvoused and docked with the ATV at 04:15:00 UTC on Tuesday, 19 July 1966. Roughly 100 minutes earlier, an Agena Target Vehicle (ATV) had been launched from LC-14 into a 162 nm circular parking orbit. Gemini-Titan 10 (GT-10) was launched from LC-19 at Cape Canaveral, Florida on Monday, 18 July 1966. Without Gemini, the United States would not have achieved the goal of landing men on the Moon before the end of the 1960’s. Gemini pioneered key technologies required to land men on the Moon including space navigation, rendezvous, docking, orbital maneuvering, long-duration spaceflight and extra-vehicular activity (EVA). The Gemini Program consisted of ten manned spaceflights flown in a twenty month period starting in March of 1965. Among other accomplishments, the Gemini 10 crew established a new manned spaceflight record when they rode their Gemini-Agena spacecraft to an altitude of 412 nm above the Earth. Young and Michael Collins completed the highly successful mission of Gemini 10. Finally we point out location of components in the physical layout diagram.įive fundamental tricks to create the holy grail of Fender tone #1960 FENDER BANDMASTER MOD#We usually start with explaining a mod from a functional perspective where we relate to components in the logical schematics diagram. You’ll need schematics to implement some of these mods. Unfortunately does the diode rectifier not offer any options for rectifier tube swaps to select among different plate voltages, clean headroom levels and sag characteristics. ![]() Most of the maintenance and mod tips below will make the amp break up earlier, reaching the sweet spot at a lower volume. Tube mods (pulling V1 out and a 12ax7 PI) will take you a long way, and if you also invest in implementing the tremolo disconnect mod, you may get a fatter, warmer and fuller tone at practice volumes. This makes it possible to adapt to small and big stages and gigs just by configuring the speakers. The blackface and silverface Bandmasters are medium/big sounding amps with a flexible speaker impedance of 4 ohm, allowing anything between one and four speakers (8 ohm each) to be connected via the main and/or external speaker jack. The blackface Bandmaster is therefore ideal for those who look for a pure Fender clean sound without making ones ears bleed. A smaller output transformer will introduce sag and compression in the power amp section. The Bassman has a slightly bigger output transformer resulting in a firmer tone and more attack. Hence, the AA864 Bassman normal channel has more preamp “juice” and reaches the sweet spot at an earlier volume knob setting. The vibrato channel in the Bandmaster is even more clean than the Bassman because of the vibrato circuitry loading the signal chain and reducing the gain level in the premp section. They are similar in the way that both are clean sounding with just one 12ax7 tube in the preamp stage (vibrato ch in bandmaster and normal channel in bassman). Let’s study the blackface Bandmaster AB763 and blackface Bassman AA864. #1960 FENDER BANDMASTER PRO#The Bandmaster Reverb head is therefore quite similar to the amps in the Pro Reverb and Vibrolux Reverb, just without the speakers. Not only is there more action in the preamp section, the silverface Bandmaster Reverb also has less attack and less clean headroom in the power amp section due to the tube rectifier. This is caused by the lack of gain stage in the reverb recovery circuit which contributes to tube distortion and compression in the preamp section when the amp is pushed. The reverb amps will start to break up around 4-5 on the volume knob while the non-reverb amps stay clean to approx 6-7. All these ab763 amps with reverb has the gain stage in the reverb recovery circuit which the non-reverb amps don’t have. Yes of course some have the mid knob and bright switch while others don’t. The main differences between these amps are transformer size, filter caps size and output/speaker impedance. The silverface Bandmaster Reverb is a typical ab763 amp and shares basic circuit design with the Super Reverb, Deluxe Reverb, Twin Reverb, Vibrolux Reverb, Pro Reverb and Twin Reverb. It reminds us more of a classic 80w Twin Reverb than a Bandmaster Reverb, and it shared its circuit design with the Pro Reverb and Super Reverb at that time. The 70W model from 1978 with master volume and push/pull boost had a huge power transformer and big filter caps. As usual the later silverface models were modified to become cleaner and more powerful. Due to this the silverface Bandmaster Reverb is less powerful, has less attack and breaks up earlier than the blackface Bandmaster. The silverface Bandmaster amps got a 5U4GB tube rectifier and the vibrato channel got reverb. The blackface head had a diode recifier, one normal channel and a vibrato channel with no reverb. The Bandmaster came with many different circuits during the blackface and silverface eras. NullPointerException is an Exception which Java can throw at runtime. In Windows, the OS can sometimes convert them into normal-looking exceptions which you can catch and recover from. In POSIX, the OS uses a signaling system to report faults like these, and you can register callback functions to log what the error was before you exit. Anything you coded into the program is part of the program, including exception handling, so anything beyond logging a nice error message before the process dies is inadvisable in the few cases it isn't impossible. However, you need to keep 3 things in mind:ġ) These bugs are MORE severe than exceptions and often cannot present as exceptions to your logic.Ģ) Your detection and library handling of them WILL be platform-dependent on the back end, even though you can provide a clean abstract interface for public consumption.ģ) There will always be some crashes that are so bad you cannot even detect them before the end.īasically, faults like segfaults or heap corruption are not exceptions because they're corrupting the actual process running the program. compareTo in java throws two exceptions, namely NullPointerException and ClassCastException.
